Jamie Foxx Reveals ‘Less Than 5 Percent’ Survive His Medical Crisis as He Makes Comeback at 2025 Golden Globes

Jamie Foxx is talking candidly about the health issue that almost killed him. The 57-year-old Oscar winner previously revealed that he had a brain bleed in April 2023 while in Atlanta, which resulted in a stroke, in his stand-up special ‘What Had Happened Was…’ at the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet recently, Foxx told Variety that he was thankful to be alive.

Foxx said that he was afraid when questioned about it, highlighting the fact that accolades and fame are nothing compared to life-threatening medical issues. In an interview with one of his nurses in Atlanta, he described how the nurse told him, “You’re a 5-percenter.”

The nurse told Foxx that less than 5% of persons with his condition survive, which piqued his interest. She went on to say that she was committed to helping him get better as soon as she saw him. Despite Foxx’s gratitude, the nurse told him, “You’re not special.” For every person who enters this room, I roll up my sleeves. Foxx recognized that the glitz and glamour of the profession meant little when it came to his health, but this encounter helped him put things into perspective.

In his OTT special, Foxx provided further details on the course of his medical issue. He begged his friend for aspirin because he was having a terrible headache, but he passed out before he could take it. He didn’t remember the next twenty days. His daughter Corinne announced on social media in April that Foxx had suffered a “medical complication” while filming ‘Back in Action’ in Atlanta with Cameron Diaz. She reassured supporters that prompt medical care and attention had put him on the path to recovery.
