Jamie Lee Curtis Is Unrecognizable in ‘The Last Showgirl’ – A Look Inside Her Transformation

Viewers will be astounded by Jamie Lee Curtis’s most recent performance in ‘The Last Showgirl’. Curtis portrays Annette, a former showgirl who now works as a cocktail waitress, in the independent film directed by Gia Coppola. Pamela Anderson plays Shelley, a seasoned Las Vegas performer. In the dramatic metamorphosis of her persona, Curtis, 65, is hardly recognizable, with reddish hair, a sparkling outfit, and an orange-toned spray tan.

Curtis explained with Entertainment Weekly that she rapidly envisioned Annette’s narrative and look, even negotiating with her wig maker to accomplish the character’s specific style. She used a tan and red wig to give Annette a “leathered” appearance to illustrate the consequences of sun exposure on Annette’s skin. Anderson laughed when Curtis used the phrase “rode hard and put away wet” to describe the worn appearance, pointing out that during the read-through, Curtis was getting “more and more orange” with her frosty pink lipstick.

In addition to Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd, the picture was written by Kate Gersten and produced by Robert Schwartzman and Natalie Farrey. Anderson’s performance is her first major part since she starred in the thriller Alone at Night in 2022.

The Vegas showgirl lifestyle, which Curtis characterizes as a world of unrelenting hustle with little resources and support, is examined in detail in ‘The Last Showgirl’. As a fan of ‘Hustlers,’ Curtis found her portrayal to be very relatable.

According to Coppola, Annette works as a cocktail server and sometimes performs as a “bevertainer.” Curtis and Coppola created a scene in which Annette dances to Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’ which Curtis welcomed with her trademark swagger, “F— it, let’s do it.” The scene was inspired by actual Vegas entertainers. The scene’s vulnerability struck Curtis as a reflection of the frequently disregarded difficulties encountered by female performers in Las Vegas.

‘The Last Showgirl’ opens in theatres on 13th December after making its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
