Fans noticed the lyric reference to Jackson’s track, which is the lead song from Jackson’s seventh album ‘All For You’.

The inspiration for the lyric reference came from Jackson who sent flowers to Swift following the controversial 2009 VMAs incident in which Ye objected to Swift's victory over Beyoncé.

Swift mentioned getting flowers from Jackson in a Z100 radio interview she gave at the time. “Artists that I didn’t even assume knew who I was have supported me. I woke up the next day and I had flowers in my hotel room from Janet Jackson,” she said.

With ‘Midnights,’ Swift has surpassed the previous Spotify record for the most streamed album in a single day. The pop artist’s 10th album, which was released at midnight yesterday, has smashed the record as Spotify users noticed a sharp increase in outages. Swift expressed her gratitude to her followers for "doing something mind-blowing."

In other news, Jackson announced earlier this month that her sixth album, 1997's ‘The Velvet Rope,’ would be reissued in honour of its 25th anniversary. On 7th October, the expanded edition became available, marking the exact 25th anniversary of the original album. A plethora of additional tunes are included, all of which are debuting on streaming services.
