Jason Bateman Blackmails Taron Egerton in Gripping ‘Carry On’ Trailer

‘Carry On’ is a thrilling new film set within the high-stakes environment of an airport, centering on a mysterious traveller, played by Jason Bateman, who harbours dangerous secrets. Bateman’s character resorts to blackmailing a young TSA agent, portrayed by Taron Egerton, to smuggle a perilous package past security.

The trailer opens dramatically, introducing Bateman’s character as he walks into a shop selling Christmas trees while clad in a black leather jacket and baseball cap. The tension escalates when he leaves the scene after igniting a dead body. “There’s people in control, and there’s people that listen.

I’m the guy you listen to,” Bateman ominously declares in a voiceover.

Ethan, the TSA agent played by Egerton, stumbles upon an earpiece that connects him to Bateman's character. Through this device, he receives threatening instructions, forcing him to clear a dangerous bag for passage through security.

“One bag for one life,” Bateman’s character warns, “All you have to do is nothing.” The chilling ultimatum sets the stage for a gripping narrative about morality and survival. Beyond the immediate tension of the blackmail, ‘Carry On’ delves into deeper societal themes, questioning established systems and examining the repercussions of defying them.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘Black Adam’, the film promises a complex blend of suspense and social commentary. In a recent interview, Egerton discussed his character's struggles. “He’s unhappy at work at the airport and feeling flat and dejected about it,” he explained.

Despite his desire to be a responsible provider for his unborn child, Ethan faces a profound lack of fulfilment. “So when he’s put in this terrible situation, he has a huge occasion to rise to,” added Egerton, hinting at the character's internal conflict and potential for growth.
