Jennifer Hudson to Drop First Holiday Album in 10 Years, ‘The Gift of Love’

Jennifer Hudson has announced the release of her first-ever holiday album, ‘The Gift of Love’. She shared the news with fans through a trailer on Instagram, where she performed a jazzy version of ‘Jingle Bells’ while decorating a Christmas tree with presents.

The star teased her excitement for the album, captioning the post, “I cannot wait for it to be yours!” This will be Hudson’s first album on Interscope Records, marking a return to music after a lengthy hiatus.

The Gift of Love will feature Hudson’s renditions of holiday classics such as ‘The Christmas Song’, ‘O Holy Night’, ‘Winter Wonderland’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’, ‘My Favorite Things’, ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’, ‘Jingle Bells’, and ‘Auld Lang Syne’, alongside new original tracks. She has also collaborated with her boyfriend Common on the track “Almost Christmas” and South African group The Joy on “Carol of the Bells.”

This marks Hudson’s first album in over a decade, following her previous release ‘JHUD’, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. Fans have eagerly awaited her return to the studio.

Hudson, who is also the host of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’, previously expressed her love for the festive season, saying, “It’s no secret that Christmas is my favourite time of year, and one of the things I love most about it is the holiday music.”

Reflecting on her fans’ requests for a Christmas album, Hudson shared, “I hope this album creates a feeling of love and warmth for everyone, especially my amazing and persistent fans who have been asking for it!”
