Jennifer Lopez Confirms She Was Supposed to Share The Iconic Kiss With Britney Spears And Madonna at The 2003 VMAs

We all remember the time when Madonna kissed Britney Spears at the VMAs but what we don’t know is that the iconic moment was supposed to include Jennifer Lopez too! Who wouldn’t have loved to see these three powerful queens of pop on the stage together? In a recent interview about her upcoming movie ‘Shotgun Wedding’, Jennifer Lopez confirmed rumours that she was originally tapped for Madonna’s performance at the 2003 VMAs. She also spoke about why she didn’t end up on the show, and why Christina Aguilera filled in her shoes.  

“Yes, that is actually true,” Lopez claimed. “I was filming a movie in Canada. We had met, me, her and Britney, to do it, at Madonna’s home. I just couldn’t get off the film, so we couldn’t do it. Then they got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it.”

“I didn’t wind up doing it, but yeah, we had talked about it,” she added. “I love Madonna, I’m a huge fan, I always have been.”

Madonna gave a group performance for the song ‘Hollywood’ at the said VMAs, and right before the guest appearance of Missy Elliott, Madonna exchanged an unforgettable kiss with Britney Spears, and then with Christina. Even though the kiss with Spears became a great moment in pop culture history, we can not help but wonder what would have happened if J.Lo. was on the stage too. In 2022, Spears and Madonna recreated the moment at the former’s wedding to Sam Asghari.
