Jennifer Lopez Started House Hunting in April Amid Ben Affleck Separation

Jennifer Lopez began her search for a new home in April, coinciding with her separation from Ben Affleck, as confirmed by a source to PEOPLE. The 55-year-old actress and singer officially filed for divorce from Affleck on 20th August, listing 26th April 2024, as their separation date. Around that time, Lopez started looking for a new residence.

Back in June, PEOPLE reported that Lopez and Affleck, 52, were discreetly shopping their Beverly Hills mansion off-market to maintain privacy. When they couldn’t find a buyer, they publicly listed it for $68 million in July, after purchasing it in June 2023 for just under $61 million.

A source revealed that Lopez filed for divorce because she was “done waiting” and heartbroken after trying hard to make the marriage work. The source emphasized that their children remained a top priority for Lopez.

Following the divorce filing, another insider noted that Affleck hadn’t made any significant effort to repair their relationship, leaving Lopez disappointed and feeling the need to prioritize herself. In the months after their separation, Affleck bought a new $20.5 million house in Los Angeles on Lopez’s birthday. The five-bedroom home, described as family-friendly yet convertible into a bachelor pad, is located in a sophisticated neighbourhood known for its A-list residents.

That same day, Lopez finalized the sale of her New York City condo for $23 million. The four-bedroom, 7.5-bath duplex had been on the market intermittently for seven years before finally selling this past spring, with the sale closing in July.

Lopez and Affleck first met in 2002, breaking off their initial engagement in 2003. After rekindling their relationship in 2021, they married in Las Vegas on 2022, and held a traditional wedding in Georgia on August 20, 2022, exactly two years before Lopez filed for divorce.
