Jennifer Lopez Transforms Ben Affleck Into a Family Man Again

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage played a key role in helping Affleck “become a family man again,” according to a source close to the couple. Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding, with the source emphasizing that family was always a priority in their relationship.

“Family is central to both of them, and they embraced their roles as family-oriented individuals together — that bond remains strong,” the source shared about their previously blended family. Lopez is mother to 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

The source highlighted the differences between Affleck and Lopez, noting, “They have distinct personalities — she loves being in the spotlight and socializing, while he’s more of a homebody and prefers quieter moments.” Affleck and Garner, both 52, were recently spotted returning to Los Angeles after dropping off their daughter Violet at Yale University, just before Lopez filed for divorce.

Despite their separation, Affleck and Garner are said to be “in a good place” with co-parenting, according to the source. Garner has been in an on-and-off relationship with businessman John Miller since finalizing her divorce from Affleck in 2018, and sources say she is “happy with John.”

Affleck was seen without his wedding ring for the first time since Lopez filed for divorce, as he headed to an office building in L.A. Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing their separation date as 26th April, the same day she was spotted in New York City alone. Affleck has been seen frequenting the same office building in recent weeks, while the couple spent much of the summer apart on different coasts.

Another source revealed to PEOPLE that Affleck “hasn’t shown any commitment or interest in working on their marriage” in recent months, adding, “It’s reached a point where [Lopez] has to focus on herself.”
