Jeremy Renner Celebrates 2nd Anniversary of Snowplow Accident, Honouring His ‘ReBirthday’
Following a terrifying snowplow accident that almost took his life on 1st January 2023, Jeremy Renner conveyed his sincere gratitude to those who rescued his life.
The 53-year-old ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ star posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed with his medical staff on Instagram and a thought-provoking remark. He called it his second “ReBirthday,” commemorating the anniversary of his recovery and survival.
In recognition of their critical role in saving his life, Renner expressed his love, respect, and gratitude to the medical staff, first responders, and everyone involved in his rehabilitation. Additionally, he thanked his neighbours and nephew, Alex Fries, who came to his rescue amid the pandemonium on that freezing New Year’s morning. Without going into any detail, Renner expressed regret for the painful memories they had to live through and alluded to the incident’s gory character.

The actor revealed that he was incredibly thankful for the love and prayers that poured in from all around the world, his family’s unshakable support, and what he called “divine intervention, luck, and miracles” that allowed him to stand up once more. Renner said he now feels more open, loved, connected, and incredibly fortunate to take his next steps and breathes after reflecting on his path.
When a seven-ton snowplow crushed Renner at his farm near Reno, Nevada, two years ago, he suffered serious injuries. He had used the truck to tow his car, which was stuck on an icy route, and clear snow after a blizzard. Renner leaned out of the moving vehicle, but he neglected to apply the parking brake, out of concern for his nephew Alex’s safety as he detached the chain between the automobile and the plow. As he attempted to get back inside the snowplow, he slipped out and was dragged beneath the enormous machine.

Rich Kovach, Renner’s neighbour, and Barb Fletcher, Kovach’s partner, hurried to help and tried to keep him alive until paramedics could get there. The actor suffered more than 30 shattered bones, a collapsed lung, a lacerated liver, and acute chest trauma, among other potentially fatal injuries. Renner had to relearn how to walk after spending two weeks in the hospital and was unable to get out of bed for a month.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer after the event, Renner said, “I chose to survive,” reflecting on his resolve to get through the trauma.
