Jessie Ware Sings ‘Kiss Of Life’ With Kylie Minogue at a London Gig

On 28th May, Jessie Ware performed at the O2 Academy Brixton, and she brought out special guest Kylie Minogue for a performance of their duet, ‘Kiss Of Life.’

The song is on Kylie’s deluxe version of her 15th studio album, 2020’s ‘Disco,’ titled ‘DISCO: Guest List Edition.’ NME’s Nick Levine rated the album four stars upon its debut, calling it her most consistent and entertaining album in a decade.

Ware’s performance last night was the first of two at the O2 Brixton Academy, with the second set for 29th May. Both are on the singer-songwriter’s ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’ tour, which is in support of her album of the same name, released in 2020.

The tour had been postponed from April 2021 to December 2021 due to persistent concerns about the coronavirus epidemic. It will wrap up next month with stops in Halifax, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It was then delayed in February, with the first show taking place in Bristol on 26th May.

Take a look at Kylie and Jessie’s performance of ‘Kiss Of Life’ in Brixton below:

Minogue’s performance happened to coincide with her 54th birthday. Ware sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the pop star in front of the Brixton crowd, and she had a birthday cake and candles brought out for the occasion. Below is a video of the birthday sing-a-long.

‘DISCO: Guest List Edition,’ which was released last November, includes high-profile collaborations and additional new songs, as well as remixes and extended mixes from Basement Jaxx, Purple Disco Machine, Syn Cole and others. It features the previously released Years & Years duet ‘A Second to Midnight,’ as well as Gloria Gaynor’s new song ‘Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You.’

Minogue and Jason Donovan, the “perfect Neighbours couple,” were confirmed earlier this month to return to Ramsay Street for the long-running soap’s finale.

The Australian show’s UK broadcaster, Channel 5, announced in February that it will no longer air the series post summer, resulting in the show’s cancellation.

Jessie Ware, on the other hand, will be performing at Glastonbury later this month. The Park, a “wonderland of genre-defying, synapse-sparking dionysian pleasurement,” has added the vocalist to the line-up.

Minogue remarked of the show that she’ll be forever grateful for the experience and the friends she made on ‘Neighbours’.  She added that they had no clue how popular the show would become or how deeply fans would care about it.
