Jimmy Fallon Receives Unique ‘Cupcake Salute’ From ‘Tonight Show’ Crew

During an episode of ‘The Tonight Show’ Starring Jimmy Fallon, the late-night host received a unique and hilarious birthday surprise. Fallon read aloud a heartfelt card from announcer Steve Higgins and The Roots, led by Questlove. 

The message started warmly but took a funny turn: “In honour of your 50th birthday, we want to give you the ‘50 cupcake salute.’ Please grab your goggles and jockstrap, and make your way to the floor.”

Confused yet ready, Fallon jokes, “I don’t know what’s about to go down. Does somebody want to explain what’s going on?” The answer came from rapper Black Thought, who delivered an amusing proclamation: “In recognition of the milestone of your 50th birthday, we give you the ‘50 cupcake salute.’ May the cupcakes commence!”

The crew began throwing cupcakes at Fallon, who, laughing uncontrollably, tried to shield himself. As he turned to face the audience, he playfully asked, “What is wrong with you? Who got me in the head?” Despite the chaos, he thanked everyone for the wild birthday wishes.

But the fun wasn’t over. Singer Demi Lovato pointed out that only 49 cupcakes had been thrown and promptly smashed the final cupcake onto Fallon’s face, shouting, “Happy Birthday!” Fallon, covered in frosting, hugged Lovato, clearly enjoying the messy moment.

Later in the show, Lovato presented Fallon with a special Fudgie the Whale cake. Still laughing, Fallon dramatically donned a blue and red jockstrap over his suit, much to the crowd’s delight.  “A Fudgie the Whale! That’s what I’m talking about. Demi, I love you,” he exclaimed.

Earlier in the day, Fallon had thanked his fans for their well-wishes, sharing his excitement about reaching this milestone birthday.
