Joe Alwyn Reveals He Cut Emma Stone’s Hair in New ‘Kinds of Kindness’ Cast Video
Emma Stone trusted her co-star Joe Alwyn enough to let him give her a haircut.
In a new video shared exclusively with PEOPLE, director Yorgos Lanthimos and the cast of ‘Kinds of Kindness’ answer questions and offer insights about the film, which will be available on digital platforms starting 27th August, complete with behind-the-scenes features and deleted scenes.
When asked what fans might be surprised to learn about Emma Stone, Mamoudou Athie revealed, “She’s very funny,” adding, “I guess you can see that in her movies.” Alwyn, 33, chimed in with a smile, “She is also trustworthy. I cut her hair—just her ponytail, but still!” Athie responded, “Wow, that could have gone badly.”

The cast also discussed their recent acts of kindness and how they kept the mood light on set. Jesse Plemons, 36, noted, “Despite the dark subject matter, there was a sense of play and exploration on set. It felt like a weird summer camp.”
‘Kinds of Kindness’ features three interconnected stories: one about a man trying to reclaim control of his life, another about a policeman unsettled by his wife’s return after being missing at sea, and a third about a woman seeking a specific individual with a special ability destined to become a spiritual leader. The film stars Willem Dafoe, Hong Chau, Margaret Qualley, and Hunter Schafer.

In the film’s production notes, Stone, 35, praised Alwyn, with whom she previously worked on Lanthimos’ 2018 film ‘The Favourite’. “I love Joe,” she said. “Working on this film, which involved some dark themes, was made much easier because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
‘Kinds of Kindness’ will be available digitally on 27th August and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on 8th October.
