John Krasinski and Natalie Portman Unveil Clues to Eternal Life in New ‘Fountain of Youth’ Trailer

Now, there’s a bold twist to the title of Sexiest Man Alive: 45-year-old John Krasinski plays his most daring part to date in ‘Fountain of Youth’.  Alongside Natalie Portman, the two lead an exciting quest for the legendary source of eternal life.  The first look at the trailer is exclusively available to PEOPLE.

After their father, a famous treasure hunter, passed away, the lives of estranged siblings Luke and Charlotte Purdue—played by Krasinski and Portman—took quite different directions.  Following in his father’s footsteps, Luke became a travelling renegade on a quest to find forgotten antiquities, frequently breaking the law in the process.  Charlotte, on the other hand, took a more subdued route, working in an art gallery and avoiding the family tradition.

The Purdue siblings get together on a perilous quest to locate the fabled spring that is said to bestow eternal life, despite their differences.

Eiza González also plays a mysterious individual in the movie who is out to stop the Purdues’ goal at every turn.  Domhnall Gleeson portrays Owen Carver, a wealthy and ostensibly charitable investor who finances their expedition, but his motivations are anything but honourable.

Director Guy Ritchie claims that Luke and Charlotte share a background connected to the hunt for ancient relics and have origins in archaeology.  Their separation contributes to the drama of their reunion, particularly when they must cooperate to find a treasure that has the potential to alter the course of history.

It becomes evident as their trip progresses that they are not alone in their search for the fountain.  Because they feel that their power is too harmful for humanity, an underground group has long kept its secrets safe.  The persona played by Stanley Tucci reveals that there is a good reason why the fountain has been buried for thousands of years.  González’s character, meanwhile, compares Luke to a child flying a kite in the middle of a lightning storm and tells him that he’s heedlessly pursuing something much larger than he comprehends.

‘Fountain of Youth’ will debut on Apple TV+ on 23rd May, also includes performances by Carmen Ejogo and Laz Alonso.
