John Legend Details How he Got Chrissy Teigen And Their Kids to Join His New Album
John Legend’s musical journey has evolved significantly since his debut R&B album, ‘Get Lifted’. Once known for singing about single life with tracks like ‘Used to Love U’ and ‘She Don’t Have to Know’, Legend’s life has changed with marriage and children.
“It’s truly nonstop,” the EGOT winner says of life with his wife Chrissy Teigen and their four children. “They’re so cute, and it’s interesting to see their personalities develop,” he adds, noting that family life is “all hands on-deck.”

Balancing a busy career with family demands, Legend recently combined these worlds with his new project: ‘My Favourite Dream’, a family album created in partnership with Fisher-Price. “It’s four voices singing over top of each other,” Legend explains, referring to the album’s lead single, ‘Love,’ which features Teigen, Luna, and Miles.
He describes the recording process as a family affair, saying, “We recorded a video of me trying to wrangle them and show them how to navigate the studio.”

Legend highlights the challenges of teaching his children studio basics, noting, “The main thing was keeping everybody on time with the tempo and everything. And they’re not used to singing and using headphones and things of that nature.”
Despite the learning curve, Legend found the process “pretty quick and easy.” With his studio near their school, he notes that the session took about 10 minutes, once the kids adjusted to the studio environment.
