John Legend & Faouzia Risk The World In ‘Minefields’

This Friday has witnessed a string of sparkling new releases from the likes of Justin Bieber, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Maluma and more. And now, adding to that mix is a stunning new duet from two vocal powerhouses: John Legend and the singer-songwriter Faouzia.

Both acts just put out a fresh tune titled, ‘Minefields‘. The track opens with a gentle piano tune, seeing Legend pick up where Faouzia leaves off. Between some of the most spectacular melodic runs and powerful harmonies, a single listen is all it takes for ‘Minefields’ to leave goosebumps in its wake. Perhaps what makes this ballad all the more beautiful is the fact that their vocals are starkly different, yet they blend together to form something haunting and magical.

The song sees both stars yearn to return to the arms of a lost lover. They pine, realizing what they’ve left behind. They hope to recreate a love, that now only exists in dreams and memories. The songwriting on this piece is bound to leave you tender-hearted, take a look:

Now this might be a mistake that I’m calling you this late
But these dreams I have of you ain’t real enough
Started bringing up the past, how the things you love don’t last
Even though this isn’t fair for both of us

These minefields that I walk through
What I risk to be close to you

Speaking of the formation of this track, Faouzia explained, “I’d love for listeners to get what they need from my voice. If they feel healed or happy, that would be amazing. I hope it’s a safe place for them. I’m just a normal girl trying to be the best version of myself and help others do the same. I care a lot.”
