‘John Wick 5′ is Not Filming Next Year

Collider has confirmed that ‘John Wick 5’ will not be filming next year, contrary to recent reports suggesting production would start in 2025. Although a fifth film in the franchise may still happen in the future, it is not currently in the works. If the project does move forward, Chad Stahelski, the director of the previous films, will helm it.

However, Stahelski is currently focused on directing, writing, and producing the upcoming ‘Highlander’ reboot, which will begin filming in Scotland early next year, with Henry Cavill set to star.

Stahelski has been given a special role at Lionsgate to oversee the continuation of both the ‘John Wick’ and ‘Highlander’ franchises, thanks to his successful collaborations with the studio. The ‘John Wick’  universe will expand with the release of ‘John Wick Presents: Ballerina’ starring Ana De Armas, along with returning cast members Ian McShane, Keanu Reeves, and the late Lance Reddick. This film is set to premiere next summer, but beyond that, there are no current plans for additional ‘John Wick’  movies.

In the meantime, a ‘John Wick’  television series is in development, potentially serving as a sequel to the events of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. This project is expected to become a priority for Stahelski once he completes work on ‘Highlander’. The ‘John Wick’  franchise remains deeply significant to Stahelski, and he is committed to continuing it properly when the time is right.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ ended on a dramatic and ambiguous note, with John Wick (Keanu Reeves) seemingly succumbing to his injuries after a showdown. The post-credits scene introduced new potential storylines, including Akira’s quest for revenge against Caine (Donnie Yen), who is also expected to return in a spin-off.
