Josh Brolin and Julia Garner Race to Find Missing Children in Gripping ‘Weapons’ Trailer

Zach Cregger, who helmed ‘Barbarian’, is directing the next thriller ‘Weapons’, which centres on Josh Brolin and Julia Garner in the midst of a terrifying mystery. Warner Bros. released the complete trailer for the eagerly awaited movie, giving viewers a sneak peek at the horrifying storyline.
The film centers on a tiny town that is devastated by the unexplained disappearance of nearly a whole class of kids. All but one student disappears in the middle of the night, leaving the town to wonder: what or who is responsible for this odd occurrence?
A child’s spooky narration opens the trailer, establishing the unsettling tone of the narrative. “This is a true story that happened in my town,” the child remembers. Wednesday was different this time. According to the narrator, at 2:17 AM the night before, every student in the class mysteriously woke up, got out of bed, and disappeared into the night, never to be seen again.
As a worried father, Brolin is shown addressing a group of upset parents who are frantically attempting to make sense of the strange happenings. “I completely don’t comprehend. Why only her classroom? He yells, “Why only hers?!” which emphasises the mystery that develops throughout the movie.

The anxiety is increased by the trailer’s unsettling depictions of kids rushing through suburban neighbourhoods in the middle of the night. As he attempts to solve the problem, Brolin’s character is heard asking, “What do you see that I don’t?” in a previous teaser that was made public recently.
‘Weapons’ is a “twisty, turny movie” that continuously reimagines itself as the plot develops, according to director Cregger. In a recent address at CinemaCon 2025, he alluded to the film’s unexpected twists to keep audiences wondering.

‘Weapons’ introduced maybrookmissing.net, a website that explores the case in further detail, to heighten the tension. “17 Local Children Leave Home Simultaneously at 2:17 AM” is the headline on the website, which is followed by terrifying information regarding the disappearances. With video demonstrating the kids leaving their parents peacefully and without any indications of force, authorities are perplexed. The town is in a state of panic and confusion since the case is still unsolved.
With a second piece titled “Underground Prison Discovered in Rental Home,” the website also makes references to ‘Barbarian’, connecting the two movies and heightening the mystery surrounding Cregger’s latest endeavour.
Fans of thrillers can expect a tense experience when ‘Weapons’ opens in theatres on 8th August.
