Julia Garner Opens Up About Her Mysterious Role as Silver Surfer in ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’

Finally speaking out, Julia Garner discusses her portrayal of the Silver Surfer in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’. The actress discussed why she was drawn to the project and what she thought made this particular version of the character special in her initial remarks about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Garner, the Silver Surfer is an enigmatic character with an atmosphere of mystery whose actual loyalty is unknown. As the Herald of Galactus, she does what the cosmic being commands, but viewers are left wondering if she is loyal to him or just doing as she is told. Her character’s ambiguity is a key component of the narrative, and as the movie goes on, viewers will progressively learn more about her, according to Garner.
Entering the superhero realm was an intriguing challenge for Garner. The actress was excited to play a character so different from anything any actress had ever done. She is well-known for her gritty, grounded parts in shows like Inventing Anna and Ozark. She added that by experimenting with a new genre, this job allowed her to reach a wider, more varied audience.

Shalla-Bal, the lesser-known female Silver Surfer in Marvel Comics, caught Garner off guard when she was first asked for the role. Although she had never seen this version of the character before, she thought it was fascinating, particularly the bizarre space-surfing moments that had captivated her in the comics and prior adaptations.
It’s interesting to note that Garner disclosed her dread of the ocean despite portraying a heroine who travels through space with ease on a cosmic board. She combined smooth movement with a sense of force and beauty by practising body posture with friends and drawing inspiration from sculpture-like stances and vintage comic panels.

Marvel’s legendary superhero team will be followed in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ as they battle the godlike creature Galactus, who is posing a threat to Earth. In this confrontation, Garner’s Silver Surfer is crucial because it gives the story more depth and spectacle. Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach co-star with Garner, and Ralph Ineson provides the voice of Galactus. The movie, which was directed by Matt Shakman, will be released in theatres on 25th July.
