It's been nearly three decades since ‘Happy Gilmore’ first graced the big screen, and fans of the Adam Sandler-led golf comedy can look forward to a sequel. Julie Bowen, who portrayed Virginia Venit in the original film, recently shared that her children have only just watched the iconic movie for the first time.
During an interview Bowen revealed, "They’ve never seen anything I’ve done.” The actress, who has three sons with ex-husband Scott Phillips, noted that while her children had heard about her memorable scene in lingerie, it was framed in a more humorous context than a sexy one. She added, “It’s kind of silly.”

Bowen's sons were particularly eager to see the sequel due to their friends' enthusiasm, leading one of her son’s friends to insist on watching the original together. “Just last night, one of them watched it,” Bowen excitedly shared.
Although she hadn’t yet received her son’s review, she recounted a humorous moment when her son’s friend failed to recognise her in the film. “He could not believe it was me at all,” she said, recalling his disbelief.
The actress confirmed that she would reprise her role in the upcoming sequel, revealing that Virginia and Happy are still together. Christopher McDonald will also return as the hot-shot golfer Shooter McGavin, much to fans' delight.
Excitingly, the cast will feature new additions, including Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce, though plot details remain scarce. Margaret Qualley, despite never golfing before her role, will also make an appearance. As the project gathers momentum, Nick Swardson, who is also involved, noted that the final script is still in the works, but filming dates are fast approaching.
