Justin Bieber, BTS & Cardi B Reach New Heights on The Billboard Charts
The Billboard charts just witnessed a flurry of activity as BTS reclaimed the throne at the No. 1 spot with ‘Dynamite’, Justin Bieber set a new record and as ‘WAP’ soared even higher.
For starters, ‘Dynamite’ landed right under the spotlight for its third week at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Taking you back a few weeks, on September 5th, the song debuted at No. 1 and remained at the summit for the following week too. The two weeks after that saw BTS move one spot up to No. 2 before returning to that special, coveted spot this week.
On the Hot 100, ‘Dynamite’ is the first song among duos or groups to tally at least three weeks at No. 1 in almost two years.
Justin Bieber & The Victories Following ‘Holy’
Now, coming to Justin Bieber, as his track ‘Holy’ featuring Chance The Rapper debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 – this marks a new high for the young star. ‘Holy’ becomes the 20th Hot 100 top 10 for Bieber, therefore making him the 20th artist in the chart’s history to reach this milestone. He first started off on his winning streak when ‘Baby,’ featuring Ludacris, debuted at No. 5 in February 2010.
For Chance the Rapper, this marks his third Hot 100 top 10. Coincidentally, his previous two victories are also collaborations with Bieber. DJ Khaled’s ‘I’m the One,’ featuring Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Quavo and Lil Wayne, spent a week at No. 1 in May 2017. Following which, Khaled’s ‘No Brainer,’ featuring Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, began at its No. 5 peak in August 2018. At this rate Justin might just be his lucky charm.
And finally, coming to ‘WAP’, the track logged its fourth week at No. 1, before climbing one spot up this week. With its fourth claim of the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100, Cardi B rewrites her longest career domination as a lead artist. After surpassing her three-week reign with ‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)’ in October 2017, with ‘WAP’ – this marks a new high point in Cardi’s career.
Whether these stars will budge from their spots, only time will tell.
