K-Pop Star, Zico, Shocks Fans With Military Enlistment

Zico is set to enlist

South Korean producer and rapper, Zico, is reportedly set to enlist for his mandatory military conscription towards the end of this month. The ‘Block B’ member will serve as a public service worker and will begin his service on the 30th of July.

Korean media broke the news earlier today, and suffice it to say, fans are shocked.

Further, Zico’s management, KOZ Entertainment, confirmed the reports. Their statement reads: “Zico will be enlisting on July 30th and after receiving basic military training, he will serve as a public service worker.”

Prior to these reports, there had been no indication of the rapper’s imminent release. In fact, Zico has been more active in the music scene in recent times. He currently stars as a mentor on the reality series, ‘I-LAND’, produced by BigHit Labels, alongside producer Bang Shi Hyuk and K-Pop star, Rain. Most recently, he even released a mini album, “RANDOM BOX”, featuring the hit single, ‘Summer Hate’.

Zico is the leader of hip-hop boy group, ‘Block B’. He made his solo debut in 2014. As a solo star and producer, he has received much critical acclaim in the Korean music scene. His latest release, a single called ‘Any Song’, went viral on social media, eventually becoming a hit dance challenge called the ‘Any Song Challenge’.

Zico himself is yet to comment on the news. Stay tuned for updates from the artist’s side.
