Kanye West Slams Issa Rae For SNL Joke

On October 18, 2020, Kanye West fired shots at Issa Rae who made fun of him in a Saturday Night Live skit. In an October 17, 2020 episode of the show she provoked the rapper who fired back with a Tweet about the incident.

Details On The Sketch:

The actress who was hosting the show starred in a skit in the show which was titled “Your Voice Chicago.” Issa Rae played the role of a political commentator who went by the name Jamele Demmings. In the sketch, the actress appears on a talk show of J. Louis Tibbs (played by Kenan Thompson).

The comedy sketch is a light and fun take on the current political situation in the US. The skit opens with Jamele’s character remarking about how she’d vote for every Black candidate on the ballot.

The SNL sketch rolls forward with Thompson’s character pestering her with more questions on the inexperienced Black candidate. The character of Jamele Demmings spins these negatives around to find positives of why the candidate would be a great bet.

Before the “talk show” rolls into a commercial break, Louis Tibbs teases, “When we come back, we’ll talk about the presidential race between Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Kanye West.” Rae’s Jamele character can’t seem to get behind this statement as she says “Kanye?! Eff him!” she declared as the sketch ended.

Kanye’s Statement:

Kanye West has responded to the direct dig at him with a Tweet. He responded with “Ive always said SNL uses black people to hold other black people back. My heart goes out to Issa Rae I’m praying for her and her family.”

He went on to speak about how the entertainment industry makes one lose the ability to achiever success. “I know that the twenty years of service that I’ve paid in the entertainment field has furthered our ability to be more successful”. Along with the Tweet, Kanye West accompanied posted a screenshot of Issa Rae’s Google search results, in Spanish.

Ironically, Kanye West only was hosting an episode of SNL, however, he has become the centre of a joke. As this saga continues, stay locked on to for any further updates.
