Kate Hudson Shares Why Lack of Romance in ‘Running Point’ Was a Key Factor in Her Decision to Join

‘Running Point’, Mindy Kaling’s most recent endeavour, provided Kate Hudson with just what she was searching for in her very first television show.

Hudson plays Isla Gordon, the recently named heir of the fictional Los Angeles Waves, a Lakers-inspired basketball team.  The character appealed to the actor since the narrative offers a more realistic and complete picture of a woman’s existence outside of romantic connections.

Even though Hudson loves romantic comedies, she was particularly thrilled about the chance to work on a comedy that focused on family dynamics and was situated in a high-stakes sporting setting.  The lack of focus on romance in Isla’s life was one of the factors that persuaded her to join the show.

Although her character has a supportive fiancé (Max Greenfield), romanticism is subordinated to other concerns.  The series’ creator, Kaling, characterized it as a romantic program in which love is there but not the primary theme, which was a novel change for her as a writer.  This series was a novel approach for her, who is accustomed to writing stories about characters who yearn for partnerships.

One of the main reasons Hudson chose to work on the project was the humorous aspect.  She wanted her first series to fit with her love of comedy and had been searching for the ideal opportunity to start in television.  She was certain that Running Point would be a good fit from the first time she met Kaling.

In addition to Hudson, the show stars Brenda Song as Isla’s chief of staff and best friend, and Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver, and Justin Theroux as her brothers.  Isla’s complicated family ties are explored throughout the series, and Hudson commended her co-stars for their ability to elevate the subject and their quick humour.

On 27th February, ‘Running Point’ will make its OTT debut.
