Kate Vogel Drops New Single Following Trauma: “I Wanted to End My Life”
Nashville singer-songwriter Kate Vogel has channelled her deep emotional struggles and profound loss into her new single, ‘Light at the End of the Tunnel’. This powerful track reflects Vogel’s journey from heartbreak and grief to finding healing. In an exclusive interview, she shared how her experiences with trauma have shaped her music.
Vogel revealed that her struggles began in her teenage years when she endured sexual assault, abuse, and harassment. These experiences left her feeling vulnerable and isolated, eventually leading to suicidal thoughts.

The pain intensified when, during her time at university, she lost her best friend Kyra in a tragic car accident. Vogel found solace in writing songs about her friend, even as she struggled academically. The tragedy continued to follow her when just three months later, she lost another close friend to suicide.
The overwhelming grief led Vogel to question her will to live. Despite her deep connection to music, she chose to pursue a career in finance, hoping it would shield her from further pain. However, this path only pushed her further from her passion, culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019.
This moment of hitting rock bottom forced her to confront the injustices she had endured and sparked a determination to reclaim her happiness. Vogel’s new single is set to be featured on her upcoming record, ‘Soft’, which she describes as a reflection on the struggle to remain open to love and vulnerability after experiencing deep hurt.
The album embodies her resilience and commitment to healing. Her dedication to raising awareness and helping others echoes the themes of hope and recovery found in her music.
