Katy Perry Conquers It All in ‘Smile’ Music Video

Katy Perry releases music video for 'Smile'

Pop star, Katy Perry, has released the official music video for her single, ‘Smile’, and it is a metaphorical journey through life.  The singer goes above and beyond in her latest music video. She’s always been one for cosplay and exaggerated looks. And, the official visualiser for KP’s latest single, delivers on every front.

‘Smile’ Details Perry’s Ups and Downs

Perry uses ‘Smile’ to detail her life as a pop star. Set to a bass-heavy, retro groove, the track offers a look into her personal journey as a musician in the limelight. Speaking of her ups and downs, she sings about the place she’s at in her life right now, and how she got here.

She croons: “Every day, Groundhog Day/ Goin’ through motions felt so fake/ Not myself, not my best/ Felt like I failed the test.” Perry even goes on to reference her career slump during the 2017 “Witness” era.

Perry is a Happy ‘Sad Clown’

‘Smile’ is a song of victory, and inner strength. And, with the music video, Perry offers an animated look at that journey with a video-game avatar of herself called ‘Sad Clown’. In addition, the video follows ideas of love, loss, defeat and victory.

Complete with convincing animation, witty scenes and a spectacle of colour, ‘Smile’, is one in a long list of extravagant Kay Perry videos. The video ends on a light note, with Perry smashing herself in the face with a bit of “humble pie”. And, all in all, this one makes for a fun watch.

‘Smile’ will find its place on Perry’s upcoming studio album of the same name. In addition, this project will mark her fifth studio album, and is slated for release on the 28th of August.
