Katy Perry Delivers High-Flying Medley And Accepts 2024 VMAs Video Vanguard Award

Katy Perry dazzled the audience at the MTV VMAs with a spectacular performance, marking her receipt of the Video Vanguard Award. The show, held at New York's UBS Arena, featured a dynamic medley of Perry’s greatest hits, including ‘Dark Horse’, ‘E.T’., ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘I Kissed a Girl’, ‘Firework’, and ‘Lifetimes’.

During the event, Perry also treated fans to the live debut of her new collaboration with Doechii, "I'm His, He's Mine," set to be released soon as part of her upcoming album 143. Perry’s entrance was nothing short of extraordinary, flying above the stage amidst a stunning laser light show and surrounded by floating butterflies and butterfly-wing visuals, which set the tone for her nearly 10-minute performance.

In a candid moment, Perry revealed to the audience that she performed under challenging circumstances. "I did that all on the first day of my period, and couldn’t believe it," she shared, expressing her gratitude towards MTV for embracing her unique artistic vision from the beginning.

Perry acknowledged the importance of the support she’s received throughout her career. "There are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist," she noted. 

She credited her long-standing team, including direct management and Capitol Records, for their unwavering trust and support. Perry also thanked her parents, MySpace, Warped Tour, and other early influences for helping shape her career and voice.

Paramount’s president of music, Bruce Gillmer, praised Perry’s impact, stating, "Katy is a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon." He highlighted her innovative creative vision and global success, noting that her VMAs performance would showcase her career-spanning achievements and chart-topping hits.
