Katy Perry Discusses ‘Smile’, Babies & Kanye West
With Kanye West’s recent announcement that he’ll be running for president this year, an array of responses from musicians and fans alike, have come flooding in. The latest addition to the mix is none other than Katy Perry, sharing her unfiltered opinion.
The star recently sat down for a virtual interview , which covered pretty much everything under the sun. Starting off with updates on her pregnancy, which included Orlando Bloom being an absolute sweetheart, offering his hand to Katy everytime she needed to get up. Or in her words, “whenever I’m waddling like a duck”.
Katy also shined the light on her latest track, ‘Smile,’ labeling it as a song of triumph. While it might be a groovy, uplifting tune, Perry also emphasized that the lyrics speak of one of her darkest times, and how she found her way out of it.
Apart from dishing more details on her upcoming album and filling us in on her quarantine shenanigans, Katy also picked up her tiny, fluffy dog, exclaiming that it was her birthday. Amidst the interviewers cooing over the tiny thing, Katy also sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her, “Nugget”.

And then, finally, the question of the hour arrived. Katy was asked, “We all know that 2020’s one of the weirdest years so far … How do you feel about Kanye West making it even weirder by becoming president?”
“I think, you know, what we’ve learned looking back is that the presidential job is best suited for someone with experience and that is a pro in their field,” she stated, without a minute of hesitation.
“I think we have seen and learned from experience that when we don’t have pros in position, that it can get a little wild. I love Kanye. He is amazing. I just, you know, I love him as an artist. And I think he’s an incredible disrupter as an artist and a conversation-maker as an artist. And that’s what I love the most about him,” Katy Perry concluded.
