Issa Rae, a prominent figure in contemporary comedy, produced the film, while Keke Palmer and her mother. Sharon Palmer, take on the role of executive producers. The film is directed by Lawrence Lamont, with a screenplay penned by Syreeta Singleton, both of whom previously collaborated with Rae on the Max comedy series Rap Sh!t.
‘One of Them Days’ is particularly significant as it marks SZA’s debut in feature films. The singer recently expressed her excitement about this new chapter in her career, stating on social media that she is taking a break from performing to focus on other aspects of her life.
The collaboration between Palmer, SZA, and Rae was first announced following SZA’s triumphant night at the Grammy Awards, where she secured multiple accolades, including best progressive R&B album and best R&B song.
While this marks SZA’s first major film role, she has dabbled in acting before, appearing in an episode of Rae’s HBO series ‘Insecure.’ Furthermore, her prior Oscar nomination for the song ‘All the Stars’, featured in ‘Black Panther’, showcases her multifaceted talent beyond music. With anticipation building for ‘One of Them Days’, audiences can expect a delightful mix of humour, heart, and friendship.
