Kelly Clarkson surprised fans with a special guest on an episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’. It’s none other than Corey Ward, who she was introduced to on ‘The Voice’!
The duo sang ‘Falling Slowly’ from John Carney’s musical film ‘Once’ for the ‘Kellyoke’ duet. Ward began by singing, “I don’t know you but I want you all the more for that.” Clarkson then joined him in singing the chorus: “Take this sinking boat and point it home/ We’ve still got time/ Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice/ You’ve made it now/ Falling slowly, sing your melody/ I’ll sing along.”
Corey Ward was in Team Kelly during the 20th season of the show, where he got eliminated in the Live Semifinal round. Cam Anthony from Blake Shelton’s team won the trophy that year. Corey performed many songs throughout the show, but some of his best ones include Robyn’s ‘Dancing on my Own’, Clarkson’s ‘Already Gone’, Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Bruises’ and Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’.
Clarkson interviewed Ward about ‘The Voice’, his experiences on the show, his mom’s cancer diagnosis and his new single ‘Close to Love’ on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’.
Clarkson has covered many songs on her show including Whitesnake’s ‘Here I go Again’, Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain’, Mark Morrison’s ‘Return of the Mack’, and Camille Yarbrough’s Fatboy Slim-sampling ‘Take Yo’ Praise’ among others.
