Kendrick Lamar Has Announced a 10th Anniversary Re-release of His Album ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’
Kendrick Lamar has announced a reissue of his critically acclaimed second album, ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City,’ marking the record’s tenth anniversary with a new physical version featuring a minimalistic cover and various colourways.
The revised edition’s physical copies will be shipped on 21st October, one day before the album’s initial release date in 2012. It’ll be available on CD, matte grey cassette and two-disc vinyl (in a transparent “black ice” pressing), with the latter also including the original cover image.
The new cover isolates and positions the image of the black van seen on the front of the album’s initial deluxe edition (issued alongside the normal album on October 2012) against a darker black background.
The release does not appear to include any bonus tracks or extra content. The initial deluxe edition had three extra tracks while subsequent releases through Target, iTunes and Spotify increased the 12-song tracklist to 17 (each with unique bonus tracks). There are a total of ten possible bonus tracks that could be added on this reissue from the five existing deluxe editions of ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.’
Sounwave, Lamar’s collaborator and producer, stated in August that he and the rapper had begun work on the follow-up to ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.’ Meanwhile, the European leg of Lamar’s ‘Big Steppers Tour’ will kick off next weekend. He’ll play 16 performances in Europe, as well as 10 in the United Kingdom.
In December, the rapper will wrap up the year by touring Australia and New Zealand. Lamar appeared as the musical guest on the first episode of Saturday Night Live’s 48th season, performing three songs.
