Kendrick Lamar & ‘South Park’ Creators’ Live-Action Comedy Film Delayed to 2026

The live-action comedy film starring Kendrick Lamar has been postponed to 2026.

The untitled project, which Lamar is producing with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, will now debut on 20th March of next year instead of its original July release date.  The film is also being directed by Parker.

Lamar’s hectic tour schedule may have contributed to the delay, even though no formal explanation has been provided.  Before traveling to Europe and the UK with SZA for their Grand National Tour, which will take place from early July to August, he is scheduled to start a North American tour.

There are very few details available about the movie, including its title and cast.  What is known is that the story centers on a young Black man who works as a slave reenactor at a living history museum, and that Dave Free, co-founder of Lamar’s label PgLang, is co-producing.  Conflict between the past and present arises when he learns that his white girlfriend’s family once owned his.

Lamar’s most recent music continues to garner praise from critics.  His most recent song, ‘GNX’, received recognition for its themes of reflection and thought-provokingness.

This summer, Lamar will be touring, stopping in key cities including Cologne, Glasgow, London, Barcelona, and Stockholm for those who are eager to see him live.
