Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has officially announced he will perform at the upcoming Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The news was confirmed by the NFL, Apple Music, Roc Nation, and Lamar himself, with a video shared on his YouTube channel. In the clip, Lamar is seen on a football field, launching footballs from a passing machine while standing in front of an American flag.
Introducing himself in the video, Lamar says, "My name's Kendrick Lamar and I'll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it's only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos." He further adds, "I won't want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. Wear your best dress, too, even if you watch it from home."

The video concludes with the Super Bowl logo and the Apple Music logo, marking the event as highly anticipated. In an official statement, Lamar expressed his excitement for the performance, saying, "Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one."
JAY-Z, head of Roc Nation, which helps coordinate the halftime show, praised Lamar, calling him "a once-in-a-generation artist and performer." He continued, "His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come."
Lamar’s performance follows a significant year in his career, despite not releasing a new album. He achieved chart-topping success with singles such as "Like That" (featuring Future and Metro Boomin) and the summer hit "Not Like Us," both of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lamar has been involved in a highly publicised feud with Drake, with both artists releasing diss tracks over the course of the year. His latest performance took place at the Kia Forum, where he headlined a Juneteenth event alongside West Coast stars including Tyler, the Creator, Roddy Ricch, and YG.
