Kristen Bell Reveals She’s Never Watched ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ Completely Since Its Release

The 2008 rom-com ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ remains one of Kristen Bell’s most iconic roles, but surprisingly, she’s never watched the movie in full. In a video for Vanity Fair, Bell revisited scenes from her career and admitted she has never seen the entire film, saying, “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen it in its entirety. Maybe at the screening.”

The film was a box office success, earning $105.8 million. Bell played Sarah Marshall, a TV star who breaks up with her boyfriend, Peter Bretter, portrayed by the movie’s writer, Jason Segel. Bell praised Segel and director Nick Stoller for their work, noting she felt she didn’t know what she was doing at the time and was just thrilled to be cast.

She also shared how the audition process was intense, as she was simultaneously filming ‘Veronica Mars’. Bell recalled cramming for the audition after a long shoot and driving three hours from San Diego to Los Angeles with no sleep. Despite the exhaustion, she landed the role, calling it a “blackout” moment for which she remains grateful.

During filming, Bell received the news that ‘Veronica Mars’ had been cancelled, and coincidentally, her character in ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ experiences a similar scenario. Bell described shooting that scene as a “meta moment,” as it reflected her own real-life experience.
