Kristen Stewart will be directing three of Indie supergroup Boygenius’ upcoming music videos. The trio includes Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. In a recent interview with the trio, they revealed that Stewart will be working with them. Previously, Stewart has also been credited as a director for the reworked version of Chrvches’ ‘Down Side of me’ in 2017.
It is not clear which songs from ‘The Record’ Stewart will be directing, but the band did release three singles from it last week. These include ‘$20’, ‘Emily I’m Sorry’ and ‘True Blue’. ‘The Record’ will be released on 31st March via Polydor/Interscope. It will be their first full-length project after their self-titled EP from 2018.
The critics reviewed it as “a record that leaves you yearning for more”, adding that it “would be astonishing regardless of the length of time it took to make, but it becomes even more so when you learn these songs were created in a matter of days”.
In an interview, the band revealed that they would like Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker or Mitski as a fourth member. They also gave credits to Bright Eyes’ Mike Mogis for first suggesting the trio jam in 2018.
Later on, Dacus and Baker also spoke about Bridgers and Dacus stated, “She handles it so gracefully. In ways that I would feel complicated, she has such clarity.”
Baker added: “It’s wild and it impresses me the scale that she is able to sanely deal in. We’ll get random texts from her, ‘Just hung out with…’ some famous hero. It’s like a bingo box of unimaginable interactions.”
Boygenius will also perform at Coachella Music Festival this year along with the likes of Frank Ocean, BLACKPINK and Bad Bunny.
