Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan Will Return For ‘Neighbours’ Finale

The return of ‘ultimate Neighbours couple’ Kylie Minogue and
Jason Donovan to Ramsay Street for the long-running soap's finale has been
confirmed.

The Australian show's UK broadcaster, Channel 5, stated in February that it will no longer air the series after the summer, resulting in the show's cancellation. After over 37 years and approximately 9,000 episodes broadcast, ‘Neighbours’ will cease production in June.

Minogue remarked that she'll be forever grateful for
the experience and the friends she made on ‘Neighbours’.
Apparently, they had no clue how popular the show would become or how
deeply fans would care about it. 

With the pair posting photographs of a script, it's now been
revealed that she, along with Jason Donovan, will be returning to the show.

Charlene Mitchell was played by Minogue and Scott Robinson
was played by Donovan. Both characters first appeared on the show in 1986, with
Minogue departing in 1988 to pursue a career in music. The following year,
Donovan left.

They did, however, become staunch fan favourites throughout that time. When their wedding episode initially aired in Australia in 1987, it drew in over 2 million viewers, and when it was televised in the UK in 1988, it drew in about 20 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched TV moments of the decade.

Both Donovan and Minogue had previously been invited to
perform at numerous anniversary festivities but had never been able to make it
work, according to reports.

When it comes to their return, the two are ‘the ultimate
Neighbours couple’ according to Jason Herbison, executive producer of the
Australian soap. He said that it wouldn't feel right to end the show without
them.

He said that they were overjoyed that Jason and Kylie have
returned home to play a pivotal role in the series finale. It's been an
emotional event, he said. 'Neighbours' is due to conclude filming on 10th June,
with the final episodes airing in August.
