Kylie Minogue and Prince’s Lost Track ‘Baby Doll’ Resurfaces After 32 Years

After 32 years, Baby Doll, a long-lost collaboration between Kylie Minogue and Prince, has leaked online. The song was recorded in 1992 following a backstage meeting at Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls concert at Earls Court in London.

Prince later invited Minogue to his iconic Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis, where the track began to take form. The newly leaked version, infused with Prince’s signature funk style, features lyrics that Minogue confirmed in a 2018 interview: “Let me be your baby doll, sugar and spice and all things nice / Let me be your paradise.”

Minogue has shared memories of the collaboration, recalling a London hotel room filled with Prince’s portable studio equipment. When Prince asked, “Where are your lyrics?” Minogue, who wasn’t writing songs at the time, quickly drafted some lines that Prince built the track around. A demo cassette was later sent to her, but it was eventually lost.

Over the years, Minogue has spoken about Baby Doll, revealing that her record label had concerns about Prince having full creative control, which ultimately stalled the project. She has speculated that a copy of the track might still exist in the Prince Estate’s archives.

Baby Doll was once slated for release as part of a compilation featuring Prince’s Vault recordings from 1990 to 1992. However, the collection, initially planned for 2022 under the name Diamonds and Love, shifted focus exclusively to tracks from the Diamonds and Pearls era, leaving Baby Doll and other post-1991 material unreleased.
