Lady Gaga Explains Why She Ignored Rumours About Being a Man

In a candid interview ‘The Future with Bill Gates’, Grammy-winning pop superstar Lady Gaga opened up about the persistent rumour from her early career that she was a man. Reflecting on her experiences, she shared, “When I was in my early 20s, there was a rumour that I was a man.”

During her promotional tours, she faced questions about the doctored images circulating online, which led to almost every interview involving inquiries about her identity. Gaga explained her decision to remain silent on the matter, stating, “The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim with that lie.”

She expressed concern for those who might relate to her experiences and feel shame due to such accusations. "What about a kid that’s being accused of that?" she pondered, highlighting the impact public figures can have on vulnerable audiences.

Gaga clarified that she did not aim to claim anyone else's identity but was cautious about the potential consequences of addressing the rumour. “I’ve been in situations where fixing a rumour was not in the best interest of the well-being of other people,” she stated.

This perspective led her to use misinformation as a platform for thought-provoking discussions. Gaga has recently become more reflective, recalling challenging moments from her time at New York University.

She responded to a TikTok post that showcased a Facebook group created by her former classmates, titled ‘Stefani Germanotta’, you will never be famous," juxtaposing it with her achievements at the 2019 Academy Awards. Through her insights, Gaga continues to inspire conversations about identity and resilience, reminding fans of the complexities of fame and personal truth.
