Lana Del Rey Discusses the Extended Wait for Her Country Album ‘Lasso’

Lana Del Rey has explained the reason behind the wait for her upcoming country album ‘Lasso’. Earlier this year, the singer announced her 10th studio album, confirming that it will mark her foray into the country genre, created in collaboration with her regular producer and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff, as well as country music producer Luke Laird. Since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating updates about the LP. In a recent interview with People, Del Rey shared that she is trusting her instincts after experiencing a “literal energetic pause” on the project.

She expressed her belief that all her songs have been influenced by Americana and mentioned her desire to take a moment to assess the current musical landscape. She added that while she typically doesn’t feel the need to pause her creative process, if she senses a significant energetic pause that feels almost tangible, she feels compelled to wait, though she’s unsure of the reason.

Lana also mentioned that she would need to determine whether the pause is due to someone else’s actions or if it signifies a change in direction for her music. She expressed her love for the songs she has so far and emphasized that she doesn’t want to release anything that feels unfinished, even if it’s minimalistic. She wants the album to be true to its intended vision.

She mentioned that while a sense of vindication might have been present three years ago, now it feels more playful, although she couldn’t quite explain why. She reflected on her recent successes, saying that if someone perseveres long enough, things begin to feel easier, adding that there’s no feeling of vindication—she’s simply happy to be present and enjoys the relaxed atmosphere.

In other news, she revealed that she married alligator tour boat guide Jeremy Dufren earlier this month. Reports indicate that Los Angeles pastor Judah Smith, who appears on her track ‘Judah Smith Interlude’ from Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, officiated their wedding.
