Leah Mason Transforms Her Name, Music And Future Vision
Leah Mason’s transformation might appear drastic, but it’s a journey she’s fully embraced. “When I first started making music, I didn’t even know who I was yet,” Mason reveals. “I mean, I was 18. I was too young to pick something and stick with it for the rest of my life. It’s just not realistic.” Initially stepping into the country music scene as Leah Marie Mason with a classic image of long blonde hair and a sweet smile, she has since evolved into an artist who aligns her personal style with her professional image.
Mason acknowledges that her early persona didn’t quite reflect her true self. “My personal style was very different from what I was portraying as an artist,” she says. Despite the success of her debut EP ‘Honeydew & Hennessy’ and the viral hit ‘Far Boy’, her branding struggled to keep pace with her evolving identity. “But you also want your branding to be cohesive. So even as I was changing and growing and leaning into different styles, my branding wasn’t changing.”

With her personal and professional identity finally in sync, Mason embraced a new pop edge. “I still love lyrics and I still love visual words, and that is still my bread and butter,” she explains. This shift is evident on her debut album ‘HEXED’, where a darker side of Mason emerges, much to the delight of her devoted fanbase.
Reflecting on her growth, Mason describes how meeting her producer in Sweden opened new creative possibilities. “There was a time when I just hadn’t been exposed to all of the possibilities for my music,” she admits. “I knew what was in front of me, and so I was using what I could with the paints that I had and the paintbrushes that were available to me.”
The collaboration led to the creation of ‘Spirits’, a song that Mason describes as transformative. “It changed my world,” she says, explaining how it inspired her to take a bold leap and travel to Sweden to work further with producer Jonasson.
“I didn’t even go expecting to make an album, but that’s exactly what we did,” she adds. This experience, she notes, was a testament to their successful collaboration and marked a significant shift in her music career.
