Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix Announces Her Debut Solo Single, ‘DSL’
Leigh-Anne Pinnock, a member of the Little Mix girl group that won a Brit Award, tweeted recently with the hashtag “#LeighAnneIsComing” and a message inviting followers to join her Discord. After deleting her Instagram account, Leigh-Anne uploaded a 26-second clip from her upcoming debut solo single, ‘DSL.’ She dances through the shadows in the video while sporting an iridescent bodysuit to the UK garage-influenced snippet.
This ‘DSL’ clip is the first definite indication that any of the Little Mix women who remained in the group after Jesy Nelson’s departure will record solo music. Soon after unveiling the sample, Leigh-Anne posted on Twitter, “Guys, I’m screaming. Can’t believe it’s happening!”
Leigh-Anne has made progress in the entertainment business since Little Mix’s hiatus. She teamed with TaP Music for media representation and secured a solo deal with Warner Records in February of last year. Leigh-Anne’s eye-opening film ‘Leigh-Anne: Race, Pop & Power’ won documentary of the year at the Visionary Honours Awards. The singer most recently collaborated with Audible UK to narrate ‘The Little Mermaid’.
Leigh-Anne has been leaning towards R&B musically, and she has performed several well-received covers, such as SWV’s ‘Weak,’ Dionne Warwick’s ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ and Coco Jones’ ‘ICU.’ Beyond the brief sample and acronymic title, little is known about Leigh-Anne’s solo debut’s sound or name, but more information is undoubtedly coming.
Leigh-Anne has achieved two top 10 finishes with Little Mix, including 2014’s ‘Salute’ at No. 6 and 2013’s ‘DNA’ at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums list. The vocal quartet from the X Factor has also climbed as high as No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 with its 2015 single, ‘Black Magic.’
