Timothée Chalamet is one of Hollywood's most promising talents, but he once received a piece of advice from acting legend Leonardo DiCaprio to steer clear of “superhero movies.” Reflecting on that conversation, Chalamet has shared more insights since initially revealing the advice in 2022. He later discussed it during the promotion of his 2024 blockbuster, ‘Dune: Part Two’, directed by Denis Villeneuve.
In an interview with The New York Times, Chalamet recalled DiCaprio’s words: “No superhero movies, no hard drugs,” advice he says he has followed. However, he hasn’t completely ruled out comic book roles, unlike DiCaprio. Chalamet mentioned that while he respects the advice, he would consider a superhero role if the script were excellent and the director top-notch.

Chalamet also shared that it was Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ that sparked his passion for acting. During the 2018 New York Film Critics Circle Awards, he revealed that after watching ‘The Dark Knight’ at AMC Empire 25 in Times Square, he seriously considered acting as a career.
Interestingly, Chalamet later got the chance to work with Nolan in the 2014 film ‘Interstellar’.

Meanwhile, many of his ‘Dune’ co-stars have already joined the ranks of superhero franchises. Zendaya and Florence Pugh both have major roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), while Josh Brolin has played both Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ and the iconic Thanos in the ‘Avengers’ films. Dave Bautista and Stellan Skarsgård are also part of the MCU, and Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.
