Liam Hemsworth And Laura Dern Star in ‘Lonely Planet’ Trailer: Watch

Liam Hemsworth and Laura Dern are set to star in the new romance drama Lonely Planet, with the first trailer recently released by Netflix. In the film, Hemsworth and Dern take on the roles of Owen and Katherine, respectively, and their on-screen chemistry is already creating buzz.

The trailer showcases the intense connection between Owen and Katherine, despite Owen being in a relationship. The film, adapted from a literary work by Susannah Grant, who also serves as director and producer, promises a compelling narrative. Sarah Timberman and Liza Chasin join as producers for the project.

In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, Dern discussed her character, highlighting themes of self-worth and the intellectual depth of her role. She explained, “The dynamic between the younger man and the older, established writer intrigued me because it’s not just about romance—it’s about finding someone who truly sees and understands you, which is something deeply human and relatable.”

Dern also spoke about her on-screen partnership with Hemsworth, noting their strong rapport and shared interests. The cast further includes Diana Silvers, Ben Youcef, Bellina Logan, Gustav Dyekjær Giese, and Dillon Lane. 

According to the film’s synopsis, "A reclusive novelist (Dern) arrives at a prestigious writer's retreat in Morocco, hoping the remote setting will unlock her writer's block."

The synopsis continues, “While there, she meets a young man (Hemsworth), and what starts as an acquaintanceship evolves into an intoxicating, life-altering love affair.” Lonely Planet is set to explore a profound and transformative romance, driven by the characters’ deep personal connections and evolving relationships.
