Lil Nas x Has a Big Heart
After rising rapper Juice WRLD’s shocking and sudden demise, a torrent of social media tributes flooded in from his friends, collaborators and fans. Lil Nas X was no exception as he honoured the late rapper at the Jingle Bell Ball in San Francisco.
The Old Town Road artist covered Juice’s biggest hit, “Lucid Dreams,” with a large image of the late rapper behind him on a screen. In the clip of the cover, he sung along as Juice’s own voice carries the song loudly, matching the intensity of the collective singing of the crowd. He went on to remember the late rapper with a larger message: “So sad how often this is happening lately to young talented rising artists.”
Juice WRLD, born Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered a seizure at Chicago’s Midway Airport and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. He was 21.
The cause of the rapper’s death was unknown and was speculated to be a cardiac arrest or seizure. Paramedics reported that the artist was found convulsing and bleeding at the mouth, and was pronounced dead on his way to the hospital.
Upon searching the rapper’s private helicopter, the police announced that they found 70 lb, i.e., 31 kgs of marijuana in the aircraft’s luggage compartment along with 3 licensed guns. The marijuana was was found in vacuum sealed packets strewn around with clothes in suitcases.
The reports have sparked a discussion about the crisis of drug abuse in the music industry, especially in light of the recent deaths of many young artists.
