Lil Nas X Is Waving Goodbye To The ‘Old Town Road’ Era
It’s official, Lil Nas X is gearing up to release a flood of new music, real soon. For months on end, the rising star has been teasing a new album, dropping a string of hints on Twitter and indulging in his favourite pastime – leaving fans at the edge of their seats. And this time is no different.
Lil Nas X recently took to Twitter to put out a brutally honest, rather humorous tweet. It read, “gonna start back releasing music soon the old town road money running out.” Well, there’s no denying that Lil Nas X did make history with this buzzing track. In fact, ‘Old Town Road‘ featuring Billy Ray Cyrus broke records when it occupied the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a whopping 19 weeks – making it the longest run for a single in Hot 100 history.
Not to mention the fact that ‘Old Town Road’ was also treated to a ridiculously long list of remixes from the likes of BTS, Young Thug, Diplo and a number of other stars. The tune also brought home two Grammy awards for Lil Nas X, which is no simple feat for a newbie to the industry.
So What Else Does Lil Nas X Have In Store?
But, despite all the fanfare surrounding this track, fans are curious to see what else the young rapper has been cooking up. A few months ago, he even requested fans for a little help in titling his album. As expected, Twitter was soon flooded with a rather bizarre yet wholesome list of suggestions from fans. Further, Lil Nas X also asked fans to send him any piece of cover art using their favourite Adobe Creative Cloud applications and here’s the kicker: he promised to create a song based on his favourite piece of work.
He also teased a couple song titles and they all sound tastefully dramatic, take a look: on the table we’ve got ‘Call Me By Your Name’, ‘Titanic,’ ‘One of Me’ and ‘Don’t Want It’. Well, ‘Old Town Road’ might’ve set the bar ridiculously high, but we have a strong feeling that Lil Nas X will reach new heights with this steadily growing tracklist.
