Lil Yachty Calls Out VMAs After Being Snubbed

Lil Yachty Calls out the VMAs

Rapper, Lil Yachty, is just one in a long list of artists who were snubbed on this year’s MTV VMAs nominee list. From Selena Gomez and Harry Styles to pop megastar Dua Lipa, this year’s nominations brought with a whole lot of surprises. And, Lil Yachty’s video for ‘Oprah’s Bank Account’, is one of those surprises. But, unlike the others, the rapper took to social media to talk about the snub, expressing his views on the fact.

According to various sources, ‘Oprah’s Bank Account’ was one of the most celebrated hip-hop videos of the year. The fun collaboration between Lil Yachty, Drake and DaBaby, saw the three rappers donning new looks, personas, and giving fans a taste of their acting skills. In addition, Lil Boat literally dressed up as Oprah Winfrey, parodying her famous talk show. Further, the real life Oprah Winfrey even recognised the music video for its satirical humour.

Lil Yachty Vs. The VMAs

Lil Boat hopped onto an Instagram LIVE to address the absence of a nomination. He said, “Bro, come on. The fact that ‘Oprah’s Bank Account’ didn’t even get nominated? That sh*t lame bro. And, I feel like a lot of people in the industry really be “ho*ing” me bro. And, that shit really corny, bro. Say what you want, I don’t really care. But, n***as know that video was hard.”

He went on to talk about the production time that the video took, saying: “I put a lot of work into that video. That video took me three days. So, for that shit to not get nominated for Video of the Year? That sh*t relly blew my mind”.

Lil Boat is A Rising Star

Lil Yachty has been climbing his way to the top, steadily through the years. The 22 year old rapper released his debut EP in 2016, and hasn’t stopped since. Creating a new niche for himself with a genre he calls “bubblegum trap”, Lil Boat has been known to not take himself too seriously, making music to have fun to. Well, this latest rant makes one thing clear: he may not take himself too seriously, but you definitely should.
