Linkin Park Unveils New Song ‘Heavy is The Crown’ in Hamburg

Linkin Park premiered a new track, ‘Heavy Is The Crown’, during their performance in Hamburg.

During their show in Hamburg, Germany, on 22nd September, the band introduced ‘Heavy Is The Crown’, the second song revealed from their upcoming comeback album ‘From Zero’. The track kicks off with an energetic riff followed by a rap verse from Mike Shinoda, and it also features an extended scream from new vocalist Emily Armstrong. You can watch fan-filmed footage of the performance below.

‘Heavy Is The Crown’ will be part of the band’s forthcoming album ‘From Zero’, set to drop on 15th November. It follows the album’s lead single ‘The Emptiness Machine’, which marked their first release in seven years.

Earlier this month, Mike Shinoda, turntablist Joe Hahn, guitarist Brad Delson, and bassist Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell reunited the band, seven years after the tragic passing of vocalist Chester Bennington. Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong has now stepped in as the new vocalist, replacing Bennington, while Colin Brittain has taken over for founding drummer Rob Bourdon.

The new line-up has received mostly positive reactions from both fans and fellow musicians, though controversy arose when Armstrong’s connections to Scientology and convicted r**ist Danny Masterson came to light. A resurfaced message from The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala directed at Armstrong fuelled the backlash.

Jaime Bennington, Chester’s 28-year-old son, later criticized Mike Shinoda’s comments regarding the band’s reforming, after Shinoda suggested fans might need “time to adjust” to Armstrong’s inclusion. He also noted that those who disrespected his decision would “lose my respect.”

Chester’s mother added to the criticism, writing in an essay that the band failed to inform the Bennington family about their reunion plans. She claimed Shinoda had been considering replacing Chester with a female vocalist even before his death.

Drummer Colin Brittain is currently filling in for Rob Bourdon on the band’s tour. While founding guitarist Brad Delson is not part of the live shows, he remains involved behind the scenes, including contributing to the band’s new music.
