Lucy Liu Reveals Why She Addressed Bill Murray’s Behaviour on ‘Charlie’s Angels’

Twenty-five years after ‘Charlie’s Angels’ was released, Lucy Liu has thought back on her previous run-in with Bill Murray during the making of the picture.
During the 2000 action-comedy’s filming, Liu reportedly had an uncomfortable encounter when Murray used “inexcusable and unacceptable” language to disparage her during a sequence. Liu stated in a 2021 interview with the Los Angeles Times that she probably contributed the least creatively to the set, but she decided to defend herself at the time.
Liu, who is already 56, reaffirmed her lack of sorrow for her behaviour in a recent interview with The Guardian. She added that she had always spoken up against injustice and that it felt natural to confront Murray. Although Liu acknowledged that it would have been simpler to keep quiet, she emphasized that she had never been that way.

In an episode of the Los Angeles Times ‘Asian Enough podcast’, Liu went into further detail about the story’s 2021 social media comeback. She described how Murray’s actions became more aggressive throughout a scenario, making her wonder whether the comments were meant for her. She approached him after realizing they were. She refused to discuss the details of the taunts but stressed the need to stand up for herself, saying that no one, regardless of status, should put up with being disparaged.
Other claims of Murray’s inappropriate behaviour have emerged since Liu’s report. Murray addressed a complaint in 2022 regarding a female employee from the movie ‘Being Mortal,’ which was suspended due to allegations that he kissed and straddled her. In a subsequent statement regarding the incident, Murray stated that he found his actions amusing but admitted that they were not interpreted as such.

During a ‘Saturday Night Live’ taping when Green was nine years old, Murray allegedly dangled him over a Dumpster before tossing him into it, according to Seth Green’s claims on the ‘Good Mythical Morning’ podcast the same year. In addition, Geena Davis described a time when Murray publicly chastised her while ‘Quick Change’ was being filmed in 1990 in her memoir ‘Dying of Politeness’. Murray’s reputation for challenging conduct on set was mentioned by both Davis and Green. Davis expressed her belief that Murray is completely conscious of the effects his actions have on other people.
Regarding these accusations, Murray’s representatives have refrained from making any public remarks.
