Machine Gun Kelly Closes 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards With Solo Performance of ‘Lonely Road’

At the People’s Choice Country Awards, held at the iconic Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Machine Gun Kelly, born Colson Baker, delivered a captivating solo performance of his hit song ‘Lonely Road’. 

The track, which won the award for Best Crossover Song, was originally a duet with Jelly Roll, who was absent from the event. Instead, Kelly performed the song alongside his band, with the stage set in a serene atmosphere of greenery and string lights.

Comedian Matt Rife introduced Kelly, describing him as “an artist who continues to redefine the boundaries of music.” Kelly’s performance was a significant highlight of the evening, showcasing his unique blend of rock and country influences. He shared, “I had to zoom out and look at myself from a holistic perspective.”

Kelly spoke candidly about his personal growth, mentioning the significance of being born on the 22nd, a master number in numerology. “What am I here to master?” he asked, referencing the generational struggles passed down to him, including those from his late father. His introspective comments added depth to the night’s celebration.

The emotional themes of the ‘Lonely Road’ music video were also a topic of discussion. In the visual, Kelly and Jelly Roll portray two men grappling with financial hardships. The video, which features scenes of family struggles, showcases Kelly’s raw storytelling as he brings viewers on an emotional journey.
