Madonna Trolled Over Son’s Dancing Tribute To Floyd

Since the recent horrifying murder of George Floyd at the hands of police brutality in Minnesota, a number of stars and celebrities have used their position to speak about it and pay tribute. Madonna joined the list as she posted a video of her son, David Banda, dancing to Michael Jackson’s ‘They Don’t Really Care About Us’.

Madonna captioned the video, “Brutal murder travels around the world my son David Dances to honor and pay tribute to George and His Family and all Acts of Racism and Discrimination that happen on a daily basis in America. #davidbanda #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd #MichaelJackson”

All good intentions here, we suppose, but Twitter didn’t want to have such a hollow reaction be accepted in the face of the atrocities and the three continued days of ongoing protests on the streets of Minnesota currently peaking. Hence, Madonna became the butt of a number of jokes like such.

More trolling started as a Twitter user replied, “Thank you so much. I’m so glad he was able to stomp out racism with this deeply moving tribute. Y’all’s hard work and sacrifice to the cause…how can we ever repay you?”

Another said, voicing what we are all probably feeling at the bottom of this tribute, “This doesn’t sit right in my spirit. Why she makin him do this? Somebody help him!”

Jeez, a bit tone deaf, eh, Madonna? This Twitter user seems to think so. “There are many things you need to do and this wasn’t one of them.”

Another mocked, to this tribute to Floyd turned into a Madonna roast, “I really appreciate you for allowing your son to dance away the racism for us.”

While we are all too familiar with the tendencies of Twitter, it is also to be said that Madonna has long been an activist for African American rights. Right from her ‘Like A Prayer‘ day, ahem.

Some came to her aid in the tread saying, “A lot of replies from obvious miserable and unhappy people just looking for anything to criticize. Put in the decades of work Madonna has done for charity and activism then get back to me with your critiques.”
