Margot Robbie And Jacob Elordi Lead New ‘Wuthering Heights’
The internet is abuzz with discussions surrounding Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’. Specifically, the reported casting of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Catherine and Heathcliff has ignited a heated debate online.
According to Deadline, Robbie and Elordi are set to take on these iconic roles in the latest adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel. Fennell herself will be writing, directing, and producing the film, with LuckyChap and MRC serving as co-producers.

Social media has been flooded with opinions on the casting choices. While some fans expressed their excitement, others questioned the suitability of Robbie and Elordi for the roles, citing their lack of “Psychologically Tortured vibes.”
One notable point of contention revolves around Heathcliff’s description in the book as having “dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin.” Many social media users criticised the casting of a white actor for the role, highlighting a pattern of whitewashing in past adaptations.

Despite Brontë’s original description, Heathcliff has been portrayed by numerous white actors in previous films, including Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Ralph Fiennes, and Tom Hardy.
Amidst the casting controversy, some fans have emphasised the importance of focusing on the story’s themes of mistreatment, bigotry, and the destructive nature of cruelty, rather than solely on the actors’ appearances.
